James has spent most of his time on the show being disrespectful to his fellow castmates and spewing misogynistic hate to the female members especially.

It wasn’t until he went on an expletive-filled rant to his girlfriend, Raquel Leviss, that he decided to put the bottle (and all other substances down) much to the liking of Lisa Vanderpump and sober buddy Lala Kent.

James’ mother who had her own battle with the liquid demons also decided to put the bottle down.

Kennedy took to Instagram to celebrate his milestone with his followers.

He uploaded a photo of himself where he looks totally refreshed alongside a caption that read: ‘Hey everyone just wanted to let you all know I’ve made it to my one year sober Today! Letting go of drinking was the best decision I ever made and I’m going strong. I don’t miss the booze …… I don’t miss the feeling …. I’m so grateful for everything now and life has become more beautiful in many ways. Thank you to my rock @raquelleviss for getting me here I couldn’t of done this without you my love.♥️ and thank you all for the support this past year.’

His muse also shouted out her partner’s big accomplishment.

‘Today James is 1 year sober! Lots to celebrate but most important is the love you show me every single day.’

Kennedy recently spoke about his changed relationship with his mother after they both chose the same path.

‘My mom’s really good. She’s still sober. So she has now over a year under the belt, and our relationship is at a high, you know? She texts me every day, we talk every day, we live 10 minutes away from each other, so I like to see her. I treat her for lunch a couple times a week. So, we stay close and our relationship has gone leaps and bounds since I stopped drinking as well, because now that we’re both sober, we’re both counting the blessings together every day and it’s just such a beautiful thing, you know?’
