Let's be honest: we are all trying to find enough time between the chaos of our daily lives to focus on our skincare routines.

But what if finding balance was as simple as drinking a cup of tea at the start of your day? Well, Ayurveda specialist Radhi Devlukia Shetty thinks that's where we should start.

That's why she and her husband Jay Shetty co-founded of Sama Tea, an adaptogenic tea brand designed to help us take a moment for ourselves. The line has an array of herbal combinations, spices, and flavors, guaranteed to keep your body nourished from the inside out.

Radhi, who studied at the California College of Ayurveda, found it was essential to prioritize antioxidant and nutrient-rich ingredients when creating Sama Tea. Not only to give us a moment of calm during our day, but also to keep our skin looking electrifying.

"When you think about skin health, you think about the glow," she shares. "When creating our teas, we added the Ayurveda herb Shatavari, which is known for nourishment. Our Warm And Nourish Vanilla Chai blend has coconut and Shatavari to help you replenish and bring vitality and vibrance to the body and skin."

According to dermatologist Dr. Rachel Maiman, herbs like chamomile and even rose — both of which can be found in Sama tea blends — are rich in antioxidants, which help protect against skin damage that can cause wrinkles and hyperpigmentation.

"Antioxidants sequester free oxygen radicals, which directly causes breaks in our DNA," the MD explains. "[They are also] general anti-inflammatory and can reduce the inflammation inherent to skin conditions like acne and rosacea."

Understanding the importance of blending herbs and drinking tea is nothing new for Radhi. In fact, it's a part of her heritage. "Tea is nostalgic for me. Growing up, my family always had a cup of tea after dinner," she recalls. "Tea was our way of pausing and remaining present."

It was also a way for her family to relieve stress at the end of a long day.

"Stress impacts multiple areas in our body," Radhi explains. "Both our blood pressure and immune system are affected by stress. It even increases our cortisol levels, which is the hormone that impacts our skin and offsets premature aging."

As per the National Institute Of Health, active cortisol levels can enhance aging, decrease collagen, and delay skin healing. However, taking a moment of pause can allow us to replenish, creating longevity for the skin.

"Taking five minutes for yourself has the power to help you reset, replenish, and lower stress levels, Radhi shares. "We live such a stressful and fast-paced life compared to our ancestors. Having mindful moments can help us rebalance our body and skin in the best way possible."
